Chief Operating Officer – Unison

Emilie is the Chief Operating Officer for Unison – Britain’s largest trade union with a membership of 1.4 million people. She has responsibility for Finance, Human Resources, Legal Services, Membership and Systems Management. She is currently the project sponsor for a number of transformational infrastructure projects across the organisation.

Emilie began her working life in the NHS before moving to become a Trainee Organiser for the Labour Party in 2003. After working to secure victory in the 2005 General Election, she moved on to become a Regional Organiser and then Regional Director for the East Midlands in 2006 at the age of 25. In 2012, she moved to the Labour Party HQ in Westminster as the Executive Director for Governance, Membership and Party Services before moving to Unison in 2018.

She was awarded an OBE for Political Service in the New Year’s Honours list in 2019. She lives in Leicester with her young family and is an enthusiastic runner and shopper.
